corpse reviver No.2 for Van Gogh

Scroll down for the Corpse Reviver recipe

I created a scarf called the Japanese Cameo inspired by Japonaiserie, a term coined by Van Gogh to describe the influence of Japanese art on western culture. Van Gogh was a big fan of Absinthe so I am doing a cocktail I think he would approve of.

Corpse Reviver No.2

To make this drink you will need:

  •  20ml dry gin. (I used Bombay Sapphire Dry Gin, its an inexpensive but decent gin)
  • 20ml Cointreau. (if you don’t have Cointreau then other forms of Triple Sec will do just fine)
  • 20ml Lillet Blanc.
  • 20ml freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  • 10ml absinthe. (I like to use Cherry Rocher, another good brand is La fee)

Instructions:

Place all above ingredients into a shaker, fill with ice and shake for around 30 seconds. Next step is to sugar rim the glass. To do this cover a small plate with a thin layer of sugar, run lemon round the rim of a coupe or small wine glass and dip into the sugar.  Finally strain your drink into the glass using a tea strainer or sieve to stop any ice from getting through, garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Finally enjoy!
